Why do I need a diagnostic fault code check?
When your engine management lights pop up on your dashboard, a diagnostic check of the vehicle is required to check for any fault codes present. This will help us identify the problem before more serious damage can be caused to your vehicle.

These fault codes pop up due to a network of on-board computers known as Electronic Control Units (ECUs), which constantly monitor the performance of the vehicle and can self-diagnose faults. Sensors all around the vehicle report back to the ECU if there are problems such as increased engine temperature or low fluid levels. When an issue is identified, the ECU generates an error code or warning light which will appear on your dashboard. These codes can be meaningless without the proper diagnostic code reader, so we use an OBD scanner to read the fault codes and find out more specific information about the nature of the problem.
As you can imagine, the modern-day car has hundreds of potential OBD error codes that can only be read by a specialist technician using specialist diagnostic equipment. While a warning light may display on the dashboard alerting you to an issue, a diagnostic fault code check is required to start to understand the issue and determine if a more in-depth diagnostic session is required.
